Saturday, February 17th, 2007– Commentary –
Craig: Ah, what fun. I really enjoyed drawing panel 3. I love the way the disenchantment breath came out. You did a great job with the effects on it.
J.D.: In that one, I actually used the pencils. A lot of times, when you draw an effect, I take your pencils as inspiration and actually paint the effect in some other way. But for disenchantment, I actually inked the pencils of the effect because I liked the sort of reverse feel of it. It felt like the opposite of magic. It’s hard to explain.
Craig: The Cat’s man-handling of Ranger was very much inspired by our real cat “Pukarith”. The way it holds him in its paws in panel 4 is exactly the way our cat would hold —
J.D.: — my arm. I have scars from that cat. And panel 2 is an actual expression I witnessed from time to time. Fortunately, our cat was only about five pounds and eight inches tall. I love how the Cat continues to play with Ranger’s corpse in panel 5.
Craig: Me too. It was fun making the game text for that. It would be really embarrassing to die to the Cat if it were in Angband. Your tombstone would read “gnawed on by the Cat and then tossed to the side.”

You know… as rotten as Leon was before this, nothing quite ticked me off as much as when he logs in to restore his backed up save file. And panel 5 is hilarious!

I like this page. One of my favourites 🙂 I like Leon, too. He doesn’t give up when there’s something to do, even if it is to cheat a savefile. Just like me except that my nose looks different… (and I don’t cheat Mythband savefiles… but I might if I could.)

Pukarith rocks! Beware the Cat!
Ojomax, you have to realize that if Pukarith were to replace the Tarrasque, the game would become almost unbeatable: the Cat has the same powers as the Lizard, but is much, much, smarter… =)

The smile on Cat’s face when Leon fails in teleporting it away is perfect. “you’re doomed”
Leon seems to swear in Angband terms 😀
