The Plan
Thursday, November 16th, 2006Okay, so here’s what’s going on with Penance.
As you probably know, J.D. is working full-time on her book, and I’m not planning on starting Penance up again until she’s done with it. J.D. does half the work on the comic; she helps me write the story and provides the inks and colors. (That pencil sketch up there is an actual panel from the comic before she adds her magic to it. As you can see, she does a lot.)
J.D. is done with chapter 5 of her novel and has started chapter 6. She thinks the novel will have about 14 chapters, and she’s been finishing about a chapter a month. Running the numbers, I’m guessing she’ll probably be away from Penance for about eight months, until the middle of next year.
So here’s I’m going to do. Over the next 36 weeks, I will be reposting the pages of Penance, about two pages a week. This new software will give J.D. and me the ability to provide a little “director’s commentary” for some of the pages and give us all the opportunity to comment and discuss each page as it’s published. I think it’ll be a fun way to pass the time until we’re able to put up new pages.
I’ll post the first page once I finish getting the wrinkles out of the software. See you soon!

Links working again 🙂 Well, it’s a bit bad about no Penance for eight straight months, but getting some other fun will be great. Perhaps if every copy of that half a book was accidentally destroyed she’d be demotivated about it…?

Well, it could be worse and it could be better.
So, I’m guessing that her book isn’t a NaNoWriMo project? (google/wikipedia for info) Otherwise, it’d be all done by the 30th (although quality is usually questionable).

Yeah! You guys finally put up a new page! Glad to know that Pen@nce isn’t dead, I was afraid with the old site down I’d never find you again. I guess Google really does know all.

I must agree with Corwain. I was relieved that the Angband ladder site changed the link and I noticed it so I could find the new page. And, while 8 months may seem like an eternity, having Penance back (and knowing when the new strips will come out) is infinitely better than Penance disappearing.
