2-22 Screwed

J.D.: I think Leon’s response to his situation once he fully understands it is very real.
Craig: Yeah. He’s finally coming to terms with what’s happening to him. It sucks to be him right now. It’s interesting how the portal changes spoken words into written words and — in theory — back again. So anything you say out loud becomes swirling text in the portal’s face.
J.D.: That was fun to do. To take the dialog in the foreground and swirl it into the portal. It was harder in the previous pages because they hadn’t said very much, so I kind of had to include other passing phrases that were on the other side.
Craig: I think it’s really interesting that Leon hasn’t realized that Lucky is female.
J.D.: Well, why should he? Lucky always plays male characters, and Leon has no relationship with Lucky outside of Mythband, except when he bumped into her in the hallway — and they didn’t exactly exchange phone numbers.
Craig: Sure, right. I guess I more meant that Leon treats Lucky as though she is a fellow male player. I’m looking forward to how Leon will (or won’t) treat her differently when he discovers the truth.
J.D.: We already caught a glimpse of that when Leon bumped into Lucky. When he thought she was a he (or wasn’t really paying attention at all), he was very rude. But when he realized that it was a girl he had hit, he apologized. Apparently, Leon has a very strong sense of chivalry despite his… other issues.
Craig: Since the portal translates spoken word to written word, the message Lucky gets is exactly what’s in the bubbles above Leon’s head.
J.D.: We don’t show it in the comic, but I can only imagine what Lucky must have thought when she got that email.
Craig: It’s a pretty awesome portal — if the user’s not online, the message gets translated into an email instead of an IM. The Maintainer is truly a coding wizard! 😀

I think My favorite thing about this relm is the banners behind the portal. They have such a cool design on them.

I somehow detect haste in drawing of this page. It is still nicely done, but Lilith head has different dimensions from panel to panel. That is something no other pages have had before. Most natural she is at panel two. In panel one her face is taking too much of her head and in panel three there is not enough skull under hair.
But anyway, this is one of _my_ favorite pages. Leons realization of his situation is so natural.
