3-8 The Date
Sunday, August 12th, 2007– Commentary –
Craig: Heh. The bag says “Au” on it.
J.D.: Like Lillith’s earrings?
Craig: Love Lillith’s earrings. 🙂
J.D.: It’s the little touches. It looks like Leon’s not the only one going on a date tonight. Or maybe she’s just come back from it?
Craig: The symbol on Lillith’s necklace is the same as the symbol on Leon’s clasp.
J.D.: Yes. Yes, it is.
Craig: One of the interesting ironies about Leon’s situation is that although he’s inhabiting a video game, his real bodily needs continue. He still needs to eat, to bathe, to sleep.
J.D.: Which is different from his in-game needs. Cure potions will fix game damage. *Satisfy hunger* will work on his game-recognized avatar. But they won’t work on the real Leon underneath. And the real Leon underneath can be damaged. Which is why the threat of him dying is real.
Craig: I like Leon’s look in panel 6. He’s got a little ponytail going on, he’s got that vest. Much less Errol Flynn.
J.D.: In that outfit he much more closely resembles Ignatius.
Craig: On the other hand, it looks like Angelina didn’t even bother to change for her “date”. Nice job on her wings, by the way.
J.D.: Thanks.

Why does he need to wear real clothes?

Because it’s not a game stat, and he would appear naked to everyone else there who’s real? And he needs to change them because he’s still completely biological processes that can cause them to reek =D

errr… completing rather. Commenting while sleep deprived = bad

The third panel was always good for a LOL. Leon’s expression is done perfectly.

I kinda liked the “Yes MOM” touch. I can completely hear the sarcasm in his voice, and I have a hunch that statement might come around later…

I’m curious (just thought of it now)–Leon was nude when he arrived and the maintainer’s wife gave him some kind of clothes before. Why can’t she just do the magic thing again? Did she somehow summon real clothes? Perhaps the magic has some kind of inherent cost? This could well be intended, very little information about the style of magic actually used has been released.
